9X is an Indian Hindi general entertainment channel. It is owned by INX Media Pvt Limited. The channel was launched on November 12, 2007 in India. Launched as the flagship of the INX Network, 9X promises to provide world class fiction and non-fiction programming and Bollywood films.

On 10 August 2009, 9X ceased broadcasting in the UK on Freesat and Sky Digital where it had been a free to air channel.

The channel is on the verge of closure, as it had been the biggest sufferer due to a Strike between two unions related to the Indian TV industry. While other channels suffered minor losses, 9X failed to recuperate its loss. The only channel doing well in terms of viewership is 9XM, the music channel of 9X.

DD India is an Indian satellite television channel which is marketed towards Indian audiences living abroad, and offers an update on the social, cultural, and political aspects of India. The channel was launched on March 14, 1995, and is available in 146 countries throughout the world.

The channel is owned and operated by Doordarshan, a television network of Prasar Bharati Broadcasting Corporation and is based in New Delhi, India. Doordarshan, a Public Service Broadcaster, is the largest terrestrial network in the world. The service was started on 15th September, 1959 to transmit educational and developmental programmes on an experimental basis with half an-hour programming. A major land-mark was the introduction of colour television in 1982 with Asia 82 (9th Asian Games) which ushered in a major revolution in broadcasting in the country. This was followed by a phase of rapid expansion of Doordarshan when, in 1984, DD installed a transmitter in the country more or less every day. With this, the reach of television increased far and wide. DD National or DD1 is Doordarshan's flagship channel and the most widely available terrestrial television channel in India

Doordarshan has a three tier programme service National, Regional and Local. The emphasis in the National programmes is on events and issues of interest to the entire nation. These programmes include news and current affairs, magazine programmes and documentaries on science, art and culture, environment, social issues, serials, music, dance, drama and feature films. The regional programmes are beamed on DD National at specific times and also on the Regional Language Satellite Channels, catering to the interests of a particular state, in the language and idiom of that region. The local programmes are area specific and cover local issues featuring local people.

For the first few years after its inception, the channel only aired educational and informative programs with news being one of the biggest draw. Once the national feed started in 1982, the channel started airing regional and local shows on time-sharing basis. For most Indian states, this meant one national and one local news telecast. The channel soon started airing entertainment shows and popularity of some of the earliest series such as Hum Log, film based shows such as Chitrahaar and Bollywood movies resulted in a gradual increase in entertainment and commercial programming.

Till mid 80s, channel transmission was limited to evenings only. On February 11, 1987, the channel introduced morning transmission with a two hour telecast. This included ten minute news bulletins in Hindi and English apart from other short shows. On January 1, 1989, afternoon transmission, aimed at housewives and children, was launched.

The channel's educational programming includes distance learning shows for UGC and IGNOU as well as learning shows for kids sponsored by NCERT.

Since late 90s, the channel broadcasts from 4:30 am IST till 2:00 am terrestrially while the satellite feed is available 24 hours a day.
